Concept Loop (Pvt.) Ltd. is a Karachi-based cleantech startup pioneering circular construction by recycling unrecyclable multi-layer plastic (MLP) waste. Their mission is to build a low-carbon, inclusive, and circular future by transforming hard-to-recycle packaging into sustainable building materials. Concept Loop envisions decentralizing plastic recycling through low-CAPEX micro-factories to drive climate resilience and green employment globally.
Project Overview
An initiative that advances Pakistan’s circular-economy agenda by converting unrecyclable MLP waste into high-value, durable aggregates (EcoGrete™) for construction, while ensuring digital traceability and empowering informal waste workers
The Context
Unrecyclable multi-layer plastics pose a massive environmental challenge, leading to landfill dependency, marine leakage, and virgin-aggregate extraction. Furthermore, there is a crucial need to close Pakistan’s traceability gap in waste governance and to formalize the labor of marginalized waste workers to embed social inclusion within climate innovation
The Approach
Concept Loop utilizes its proprietary EcoGrete™ technology to convert MLP into ASTM-certified aggregates used in pavers, blocks, and tiles. To ensure climate accountability, they customized the ASM (Asset & Scrap Management) platform to monitor real-time recovery data for corporate Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance. Parallel to this, their TRANSFORM Program trains 300 informal waste workers in safety, financial literacy, and traceable collection methods
Results & Impact
Socially, the project empowers 300+ informal workers—including 40% women, minorities, and persons with disabilities, creating dignified livelihoods and formal inclusion. Environmentally, the system has recycled over 1,000 tons of multi-layer plastic, offset 3,150+ tons of CO₂, and prevented landfill and marine pollution. Economically, the initiative has generated over $500,000 in circular-economy revenue and strengthened data-driven recycling markets
SDGs
Insights & Replication Potential
The integration of EcoGrete™, ASM tracking, and the TRANSFORM Project demonstrates a highly replicable national model for resource recovery and green growth. Internationally, it aligns with COP 30 priorities, offering a scalable blueprint for traceable, inclusive, and low-carbon circular economies emerging from Pakistan
